ASHES is a collection of monologues, poems and vignettes that not only breathes life into the original stories chronicled in From Ashes To Angel’s Dust: A Journey Through Womanhood but has been expanded to include experiences with racism, issues of sexuality, body image and self -love.
The show continues to evolve as I do and remains the story of our mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters!

Al D Green I Loved the play , and hope that more people go look at it , the message delivered, is one that everyone can relate to… I strongly recommend this play to everyone
We incorporated humor, music and my poetry to drive the stories and introduced spiritual as a tool for healing. We lucked up on a dynamic cast and have had a number of successful staged readings and performances in New York City; Hartford, CT; Silver Springs, MD, Philadelphia, PA. ASHES received rave reviews from domestic violence survivors and advocates alike, following its commissioned performance for the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Biennial Statewide Conference and Bergen Community College in New Jersey.
We also had a successful 3 week run at Different Strokes Theatre in Asheville, NC where all but one show was completely sold out in March 2015.
“ASHES” is for those silenced by violence, oppression, homophobia, shame or the impulse to please. It is for all who understand that loving another and one’s self is a revolutionary act.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
